This week's issues:

1. Read Status! Subjects for discussion.
Meg and Lisa have put together another great issue of
Status! If you do not subscribe, pick up a copy at Atlanta
and/or check the Status website at
http://www.aas.org/~cswa/status for more information on how
to get your own copy!
Several of the articles in the January 2000 edition should
provoke some discussion for our newsletter. What do you
think about "Affirmative Action"? Do any of the "Notes from
a Life" ring bells for you? Are women "less drawn to
science and engineering than men are?" Please read Status
and then write you opinions to aaswomen
wellesley.edu.

2. Come to our special session at Atlanta
REMINDER: CSWA is sponsoring a special session in Atlanta
on the Status of Women in Astronomy. It will be Session 121
on Saturday morning at 10 am. This session, put together by
Meg Urry will include three talks. Meg Urry will report the
gender demographics in U.S. astronomy departments in 1999,
and compare them to those in 1992. Claude Canizares will
present a personal perspective on the issue of Women in
Astronomy and give his perceptions of barriers that inhibit
increased participation by women. Lastly Lotte Bailyn will
discuss gender inequities using the MIT Study as an example
of the issues involved. I hope to see many of your there!
