Postdoctoral Positions in Computational Astrophysics
At least one position will be available as early as June 1,
2000. Preference will be given to individuals having
experience in theoretical and computational astrophysics,
particularly in the following subdisciplines: 1)
multidimensional models for supernovae and related events,
2) gamma-ray bursts, 3) stellar evolution and
nucleosynthesis, 4) radiation transport in supernovae. The
length of employment will be for two years with a one-year
extension possible contingent upon funding.
Rank: Postgraduate Researchers: Step VII - Step IX
Salary: 38,760 - $42,420.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in physics or astronomy or
astrophysics.
Position available: June 1, 2000.

Faculty Position- Department of Physics
The University of Memphis
The Physics Department at the University of Memphis seeks
applicants for visiting faculty position at the Assistant
Professor level to begin in the fall of 2000. The department
has active research programs in biophysics and biomaterials,
condensed matter and chemical physics, as well as solar
astrophysics. Individuals with the research interests in
complementary areas are especially encouraged to apply.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Physics or a closely
related discipline. The successful candidate must be an
effective teacher at the graduate (M.S.) and the
undergraduate level; and be able to conduct collaborative
research with at least one of the current faculty.
Interested persons should submit a letter of application, a
curriculum vita, a brief statement of research interests,
and arrange for three (3) letters of reference to be sent to
Search Committee, Department of Physics, The University of
