Historical Astronomy Division

The Historical Astronomy Division publishes its newsletter, HAD News, approximately twice per year. The newsletter contains articles, reviews, and news items of interest to HAD members. Until 2001 it also included the very valuable lists, "Recent Publications Relating to the History of Astronomy," by Ruth S. Freitag of the Library of Congress. These now have their own section on this website.

Links to PDF versions of the newsletter are available below. Back issues have been provided by several members, including Alan Harris, Mary Kay Hemenway, and Wilbur Applebaum, and have been scanned by Peter Abrahams and Joe Tenn. Most are now searchable thanks to Bill Shawcross. There may be more early unnumbered issues (from 1980-84) that we have not found and scanned. If you have any of these please contact the secretary-treasurer.

Starting with #70 issues of the HAD News are available only in PDF versions. All members will receive an e-mail notification when a new issue of HAD News becomes available. High resolution versions are for optimizing images in printing; regular versions are adequate for viewing on computer screens. High resolution versions are much larger files. If you require a printed copy, please let the Secretary-Treasurer know.
