The results of the 1999 balloting for officers and executive committee members of the High Energy Astrophysics Division (HEAD) of the AAS were announced at the AAS meeting in Atlanta in January. Elected were Jonathan E. (Josh) Grindlay, Vice-Chair (2000-2001) Paul Hertz, Secretary/Treasurer (2000-2002) Lars Bildsten, Executive Committee Member (2000-2001) Victoria Kaspi, Executive Committee Member (2000-2001) Martin Weisskopf, Executive Committee Member (2000-2001) . The newly elected officers and executive committee members are joined by former Vice-Chair Alice Harding, who is the new HEAD Chair (2000-2001), continuing executive committee members Mitchell Begelman, Jules Halpern, and Christine Jones (all 1999-2000), continuing Press Officer Lynn Cominsky, and Past Chair Gordon Garmire (2000-2001). Also announced was the 2000 Rossi Prize. The 2000 Rossi Prize has been awarded to Peter Meszaros, Bohdan Paczynski, and Martin Rees for the development of theoretical models of Gamma Ray Bursters and their afterglows.
