Attention: Jack O. Burns, Vice Provost for Research
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellowship involving X-ray and multiwavelength observations of galaxy clusters. The research will include new observations with the Chandra and XMM satellites as well as archival research from the ROSAT and ASCA databases. Skills in observing with telescopes at optical and/or radio wavelengths will be useful. The successful applicant will work on observations of both rich and poor clusters that are nearby and at moderate redshifts. The Fellow will be expected to actively collaborate with colleagues on the interpretation of these observations using new N-body + hydrodynamical cosmological simulations of the origin and evolution of galaxy clusters. The postdoctoral fellow is encouraged to pursue his/her own research as well. Funds will be available for travel, publication, and other research expenses.
Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, a publication list, a one or two page letter outlining relevant interests and experience, and arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent directly to the above address. Applications should be received by 15 January 2001. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. AAE/EOE.
