Attention: Sharon Tiebert, Ms.
The Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE) Project at The Johns
Hopkins University is seeking an astronomer with experience in
astronomical spectroscopy, scientific data reduction and associated
software techniques, and/or satellite operations. FUSE is a high
resolution ultraviolet spectrograph, and was launched in June 1999 for a 3-year
primary mission. We expect NASA to extend the mission out to (at least) December
2004. The successful applicant should have a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics, and
will be expected to maintain an active research program. Participation in the FUSE Principal Investigator team
research programs is highly encouraged. Job duties will include
observatory work and research. Applicants will be considered
primarily at the associate research scientist level within the Center
for Astrophysical Sciences, but applicants will be considered at all
levels. Further information on the FUSE Project may be obtained at
http://fuse.pha.jhu.edu. Applicants should send a resume and the names
of three references to Ms. Sharon Tiebert, Center for Astrophysical
Sciences, by 26 January 2001. The Johns Hopkins University encourages applications from women and
minority candidates. AAE/EOE.
