As part of a general growth in astrophysics, the Physics Department of
the University of California, Santa Barbara, invites applications for a
tenure track position as Assistant Professor in observational astronomy or experimental
astrophysics, beginning 1 July 2001 or later. Astrophysicists within the
Physics Department and at the Institute for Theoretical Physics (ITP)
presently lead research efforts spanning a wide range of areas. ITP hosts
frequent astrophysics programs that attract top astrophysicists from around the
world for extended periods, as well as a number of postdoctoral
researchers. Faculty members have access to Keck and Lick Observatories.
Candidates should have a strong research background in
observation or experiment. A Ph.D. and a capability in teaching are required.
Applicants should submit a brief statement of current research interests, a
curriculum vitae, and arrange to have at least three letters of
recommendation sent to Chair, Astrophysics Search Committee, at the above address. The
position is open until filled, but to assure full consideration,
