Attention: Rene Ong, Professor

We invite applications for a postdoctoral research position at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the field of high energy gamma-ray astronomy. UCLA is involved in two forefront ground-based experiments: STACEE and VERITAS. These experiments study high energy photons produced by sources such as AGN, Supernova Remnants, pulsars, and gamma-ray bursts. Located near Albuquerque, NM, STACEE is a newly-commissioned atmospheric Cherenkov telescope sensitive to gamma rays at energies between 50 and 500 GeV. VERITAS is a future array of seven imaging telescopes to be located on Mt. Hopkins, AZ.

The successful candidate will work at UCLA and have the opportunity to work on the analysis of data from STACEE and on the development of instrumentation for VERITAS. We encourage candidates with experimental backgrounds in astronomy/astrophysics or particle/nuclear physics to apply. A Ph.D., or equivalent degree, in physics or astronomy is required. Applicants should send a CV and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the above address.

Deadline for receipt of applications is 1 February 2001. Women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply. AAE/EOE.
