The fellowship is initially for two years, with progress review after the first year. Further extension might be possible, pending re-funding of the grant and successfull activity. The applicants should have research interests and experience in the field of galaxy surveys, galaxy and large-scale structure formation and evolution. Experience with data analysis and the handling of large data sets will be an asset. He/She will be based in Merate, near Milan. The gross salary will be commensurate to experience, within the approximate range EU 22,000 to EU 25,000. The grant includes an appropriate travel and computing budget.
The fellow will benefit of the stimulating environment of the OAB, which houses one of the most active cosmology groups in Italy, directly involved in other large survey projects, as e.g. the REFLEX cluster survey and the BMW project. In addition to the gOleM optical instrumentation group which is directly contributing to the building of VIMOS/NIRMOS and other VLT instrumentation, OAB hosts a world-renowned X-ray technology group involved in several space projects, as e.g. the NASA-SWIFT satellite.
