The Center for Astrophysics and Space Sciences (CASS) at the University of
California, San Diego announces competition for a position within the CASS
Postdoctoral Program. We invite applications in theory and/or
observations for the position starting in September 2001. Initial appointment
will be for two years, with possible renewal for a third year. Research Faculty and Postdoctoral Researchers in CASS
and the UCSD Departments of Physics, Chemistry, and Electrical and Computer
Engineering carry on an active research program in theoretical, computational, and observational astrophysics. Observational work includes a
substantial effort on observational cosmology, x-ray and gamma-ray astrophysics, studies of the Sun,
solar wind, and effects of the interstellar medium, solar system studies, high resolution interferometry,
gravitational microlensing and searches. Theoretical studies encompass work on the origin and evolution of compact
objects, cosmic rays, accretion disks, nuclear and particle astrophysics, neutrino astrophysics, space plasma physics,
gravitational microlensing, galaxy formation and cosmology. Successful
candidates have the possiblity of working with CASS faculty and researchers to
utilize astronomy or related field. Please send curriculum vitae, list of
