Job Description

The School of Physical Sciences invites applications for a Assistant Teaching Professor in the field of Data Intensive Science to be held in the Department of Physics. This full-time position would be directly connected to the existing Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Data Intensive science

(https://cdtdis.bigdata.cam.ac.uk/) and the new MPhil in Data Intensive Science ( https://mphildis.bigdata.cam.ac.uk/). The successful candidate will have extensive experience analysing scientific data sets, either in academia or industry, preferably in one of Highe energy Physics, Astronomy or Cosmology. They should have a proven track record of teaching and be an excellent communicator. They should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of, and show practical experience with, statistical methods and machine learning algorithms. Due to the fast-moving nature of the topics covered in the MPhil and research within the CDT, the role holder would be expected to be: research active, to participate in one or more of the research groups associated with the programme, and to maintain their knowledge of the current status of research, and techniques used within them.
