Faculty positions (Technology Development) at NCRA-TIFR: The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCRA-TIFR) at Pune, India, invites applications for faculty positions in the area of technology development. Research activities at NCRA-TIFR are centred on radio astronomy, where the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope is a major international facility. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and an excellent track record in developing technology (e.g. instruments/software/algorithms) relevant to radio astronomy. Faculty members in these positions are typically expected to spend about 50% of their time on research and the remaining 50% on support-related activities. The 50% research time could include research in either technological or astronomical areas, guiding of M.Tech. and/or Ph.D. students, etc.It is expected that the support work would involve development of instrumentation, algorithms, and/or software for NCRA-TIFR facilities, teaching of graduate courses, telescope commissioning, and debugging activities, etc.

The salaries of entry-level faculty members, i.e. those joining after a few years of post-doctoral research, and assuming an off campus residence, are between INR 1,43,396/- per month and 1,60,127/- per month. Faculty members are also entitled to on-campus housing (subject to availability; staff members staying off campus are entitled to a House Rent Allowance) and health care benefits. Candidates with appropriate experience can be considered for higher levels with a higher salary.
