Job Description

The Department of Physics at the University of North Texas offers both undergraduate and graduate programs and is committed to carrying out state-of-the-art research across a number of areas of physics such as materials physics, photonics, computational physics, high energy physics, atomic and nuclear physics, plasma physics, theoretical and quantum physics, and astrophysics. With approximately 20 research active faculty members, over 70 graduate students are mentored in research. More details about the department can be found at www.physics.unt.edu. 

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. The Department of Physics at the University of North Texas invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank with competitive startup, salary, and benefit packages, with a research focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the broad fields of Physics.  Candidates are expected to develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program. Preference will be given to applicants whose expertise complements and/or enhances the physics department’s current research programs (see https://physics.unt.edu for more information). Instructional roles include teaching undergraduate and graduate classes, as well as mentoring graduate students.
