Job Description

The Institute of Astronomy at National Tsing Hua University invites applicants in all areas of astronomy and astrophysics for a tenure-track faculty position at any level. Successful applicants should be able to develop competitive research programs and have the potential to be recognized internationally for leadership in their field. They will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Research and teaching experiences beyond Ph.D. are preferred.

Research at NTHU/IoA includes theoretical and observational studies of high-energy astrophysics, gravitational waves, galactic archaeology, galaxy clusters, cosmology, star and planet formation, and exoplanet physics.  IoA faculty observe with Chandra, XMM, Fermi, NuSTAR, JWST, Subaru, Spitzer, SMA, JCMT and ALMA; run simulations of stellar evolution, supernovae, galaxy evolution and galaxy cluster physics; and are involved in surveys including DESI, AKARI, KAGRA, LIGO, ALMA-IMF, ALMAGAL, JCMT BISTRO and Transient, CFHT SPIRou, Twinkle, and ZTF-II. Instrumentation projects include the Compton Spectrometer and Imager (COSI) in collaboration with UCB/SSL. IoA staff and students have access to the CICA cluster, an on-site HPC facility for astronomical computing with 2000 large-memory compute cores, 100 Gb/s interconnect and more than 1 PB of parallel storage.

Applications will be considered in two separate batches. Applications for a start date of February 1, 2024 or thereafter must be received by September 11, 2023.
