Job Description

The Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma (OU) invites applications for two full-time tenure-track faculty positions in the astrophysics group. Qualified applicants in all areas of Astronomy and Astrophysics (Theory, Observation, and Instrumentation) are encouraged to apply. The appointments are expected to begin in August 2024, at the rank of Assistant or Associate professor. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Astrophysics group at OU is currently undergoing an exciting period of growth and transformation, beginning with these two advertised positions and an expectation for additional growth over the following three years. This academic year debuted a new PhD program in Astrophysics (previously, Astrophysics students received a PhD in physics). A recent generous gift to the department has endowed the Astrophysics group with two prize postdoctoral fellowship positions (in perpetuity), as well as sustained funds for a seminar series, graduate student support, our participation in ARC, and other initiatives.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Astronomy, Physics, or a related area, and must demonstrate accomplishment in astronomy-related research, as evidenced by a publication record that shows creativity, promise of future research contributions, and/or an ongoing externally funded research program.
