Tenure Track Faculty Position in High-Energy and Extreme Astrophysics
Job Summary
Job Description
A tenure-track faculty position is available at the Anton Pannekoek Institute for Astronomy (API) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA). We are looking for a candidate with a strong research program in high energy and extreme astrophysics. These research areas include, among others, cosmic explosions, studies of dense matter, and investigations into accretion onto and outflows from relativistic objects.
We encourage applications from candidates who can forge strong connections with the institute’s expanding data science profile, as well as those who possess the expertise in utilizing current and future observing facilities, such as the Extremely Large Telescope, Athena, the Square Kilometre Array, or the Cherenkov Telescope Array. In addition to a focus on experimental research, we also value candidates who excel in theoretical and modelling studies, enhancing our understanding of high-energy and extreme astrophysical processes. The new staff member is expected to play an active role in positioning the API within the Dutch and global data science communities and/or instrumentations programs, and to connect their research to other focus areas at the Anton Pannekoek Institute.
