November 11, 2001 - The VA-HUD-IA Conference report has been released informally. Overall NSF appears to have received roughtly an 8.4% increase while NASA's numbers closely track the administration's proposed budget. As details become available, we will post them on the NASA and NSF FY2002 Budget pages.
Aug. 1 - The Senate is voting on an amendment to the VA-HUD-IA appropriations bill this evening to modify arsenic limits in water supplies. The overall bill should pass Thursday August 2, baring any additional amendments.
July 31 - The House has now passed the VA-HUD-IA Appropriations bill. It is designated H.R. 2620. No significant changes from the House report passed earlier this month. Although the bill is on the Senate calendar for consideration, it may slip til after the August recess.
July 20 - The Senate VA-HUD-IA appropriations committee has produced a report (s.r. 107-43) and a bill number for the VA-HUD-IA appropriations legislation. It is now known as Senate Bill 1216 (s.1216).

July 19 - A press release has been posted on the appropriations committee web page related to the VA-HUD-IA appropriations bill...things are moving fast this year.
July 17 - The House full appropriations committee has approved the VA-HUD-IA Subcommittee report. A press release is available here. Although the bill text is not yet available on the Thomas web site.
July 10 - The House VA-HUD-IA subcommittee has produced the report that sets out funding for NASA and NSF appropriations. A Press release describing the committee report for the House is available.
The Democratic Leader has issued a statement on the President's budget.

The President's budget blueprint, a rough outline of major fiscal and policy initiatives, has been released.
One major policy concept it contains is the establishment of a blue-ribbon panel to review the Nation's investment in Astronomy and Astrophysics and whether the NSF Astronomy research enterprise should be moved to NASA, or restructured in some other way.
The Committee on Astronomy and Public Policy is reviewing potential actions including issuing statements, helping nominate members to the blue-ribbon panel and potential grass-roots activities.
