Pro-Am Resources
There are numerous examples of successful research collaborations between
amateur and professional astronomers, but the process to establish
collaborative efforts may not be clear. Indeed, once a relationship between
an amateur and professional astronomer has commenced, how do they nurture it
and ensure that each other benefits? Here are three articles, each written by
respected and talented amateur astronomers that offer advice for initiating
and maintaining productive, vital collaborative endeavors. Additional items
of information on fostering pro-am activities will appear here shortly, but
these three articles offer one much good, foundational information based on
good (and bad) experiences.
Brief Case Histories Of Five Successful Professional-Amateur Collaborations, Warren B. Offutt, W & B Observatory
An Amateur Astronomer's Experiences With Amateur-Professional Relations, Paul Boltwood, Boltwood Observatory
Frontiers of Amateur-Professional Partnerships, Leif J. Robinson, Sky & Telescope
