Notes:
One example of a new tool appeals to me as a search engine challenged person. Developed at the CDS group in Strasbourg, this tool uses neural network techniques to produce a self-organized Kohonen map; grouping similar articles together as judged by their keywords. The example shows the results for four years of articles in the Astrophysical journal. You can see the clumps of articles which have similar keywords.
If we take papers on Galaxies and click on the Jets clump we find 119 articles. We could get a list of all the articles and retrieve their abstracts.
But, we can also click on the Local Map link which organizes the 119 articles a set of smaller visual clumps.
