The University of Arizona (UArizona) Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory (SO) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Shuo Kong on topics including molecular clouds and star formation. Candidates with experience in machine-learning and magnetic field observation/simulation are particularly welcome to apply. Experience with (sub-)mm observation and data reduction are also welcome.

Throughout your postdoctoral journey with us, you will be encouraged to conduct your own independent research, as time permits, and will be able to apply for time on any Steward facility directly as a PI.  You will be expected to lead high-profile, independent research as well as collaborate with SO faculty and scholars in the Department of Astronomy.

A Ph.D. degree in Astronomy/Astrophysics or related fields is required. The incumbent will be on a year-to-year appointment. The position is initially funded for two years, with the possibility of renewal for the third year pending funding availability and sufficient progress. The start date range is from July - September 2024.

UArizona offers a world-class research environment in astrophysics with strong interdisciplinary programs across the Departments of Astronomy, Physics, Planetary Sciences, the UA Data Science Institute, UA Space Institute, and NSF’s NOIRLab.
